Research: Android Shipments to Reach 1 Billion Units Soon


The Android operating system does not seem to be met during low tide. A study from research firm IHS predicts total Android smartphone shipments will reach 1.1 billion units by the end of 2013.

Android was first shipped in 2008. So when it counted, the number of cumulative shipments of the green robot will reach 1.1 billion units by the end of 2013.

In the coming year 2013, IHS declared global shipments reached 451 million units Android. Up from 357 million units in 2012.

The rapid growth of Android is not free from many vendors supporters. From Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony, ZTE, Huawei and other vendors.

For comparison, the cumulative number of iPhone shipments will amount to 527 million units by the end of 2013. And just to reach 1 billion units by 2015.

At the end of 2016, IHS Android smartphone to project the number of units shipped is about 3 billion. Similarly, as we quoted from ZDNet, Friday (14/09/2012).

As we all know after getting opening pre-order on Friday (09/14/2012) night early morning U.S. time, Apple would immediately distribute the iPhone 5 to 9 countries on 21 September. Starting from the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

This means that Apple looks very aggressive so the iPhone 5 quickly reaches consumers equally, because in the past two weeks alone there are 31 states at least until the end of the month.

For comparison, last year's iPhone 4S distribute to the seven countries in the first wave on October 14, 2011, and then gradually increased 22 countries by the end of October 2011.
