Eliminate Maybe Apple iMac Optical Drive in New
OS X Mountain Lion recently released the latest update of Apple's other products, the iMac and Mac Pro. The second Apple workstation line-up is likely to eliminate the optical drive in the new version later.
Indeed, the disappearance of the optical drive is not the first time by Apple. Similar cuts have been done earlier in the MacBook Air and Mac Mini.
According to Apple Insider, which we quoted Sunday (8/12/2012), the internal USB booting it shows that the company will replace all the functions in-room DVD by way of direct install without disc fragments.
Given today's broadband speeds, and flash mass storage is cheap, it is not unreasonable to believe that Apple may be considering destroying the optical drive as a whole. Even believed it would support the business model in an effort to move users to the service iCloud.
A similar thing is done by removing the floppy drive on the original iMac. Back then, Apple has been using what is called "iDrive" as a cloud storage product in 1998. But it does not work properly due to lack of broadband connections at the time.
